When you see the numerous questions about "where can I find a_______dog in a certain state or city, especially with Christmas coming
Do these people not know anything about breed clubs, well breed dogs, BYB or Puppy Mills?
Do they think pure bred dogs are always available?
or are they just spur of the moment buyers and the cute factor weighing in?
Not legit at the risk of being violated–I hope everyone has a great and safe Thanksgiving. Keep the counter surfer dogs away from the turkey
I forget that are so many great people from other countries posting here. To them I hope you have a great day!
I don’t think they do.
I am going to be honest, I had no clue when I bought my first puppy. I had never heard of a BYB or a puppymill. No clue as to the origins of puppies in petstores (at that time we didn’t have any puppy selling petstores here).
All I knew was breeders and a shelter. I even thought I did right by researching, talking to other owners, meeting the breeder of my first puppy. I didn’t realize that many where I live are in the same situation as me, unaware of the

Spur of the moment buyers with the cute factor weighing in. It is unbelievable frustrating that a majority of puppies will be coming from puppy stores this Christmas- and those puppies will be handed off to children who are expected to care for them. I always donate money in the name of each member of my family to rescue for Christmas- the influx of "We shouldn’t have gotten a puppy" surrenders that will soon follow the season means the thing these rescues will need most is some spare

Yeah, I am sure they have studied all these things and will make excellent choices. I am at work with a head cold and not feeling too happy, so, "being violated" today does not sound so bad..hehehe!!! Happy thanks giving.

I think it falls under 2 categories, they either don’t know or they don’t care. The cute factor plays a huge role along with but I’m "saving" this dog.
I hope everyone here has a Happy Thanksgiving (those that celebrate). People have so many things to be thankful for, I know I do. I hope everyone takes a minute every day to remember that.

I think they know about them, they would just prefer not to buy a potentially more expensive puppy. So many people "surprise" their family or friends by buying them a dog when they haven’t even thought about costs, space and if the person they are buying for actually wants this dog. That is why so many dogs are brought into shelters days before and after Christmas because people didn’t think on the outcome.
I don’t think they care whether the dog is purebred or not. If they want

Maybe I’ll simply say Santa isn’t licensed to transport puppies, so cross it off your Christmas list…
If someone is hell bent on rushing out & pushing a puppy for their darling child who has beaten into submission with relentless nagging or overindulged, then nothing anyone may say to the contrary will make any difference.
The fact that people may choose to ignore sensible advice is not reason not to make it available, so I do suggest contacting breed clubs because

Do these people not know anything about breed clubs, well breed dogs, BYB or Puppy Mills? – Probably not and if they do they think it’s fine to go finance a puppy from a pet store or get one of their local newspaper ads because it is more cost effective.
Do they think pure bred dogs are always available? – Yes, because generally speaking, they are. Badly bred ones, but they are.
or are they just spur of the moment buyers and the cute factor weighing in? – I think that

Actually, they don’t. Most first time dog seekers honestly do not have a clue about what they are getting themselves in for. The came applies to first time car and house buyers and young couples deciding to start a family.

RR- If my 5.7lb Pomeranian can surf the Counter he DESERVES any treasure he gets!!
He is superdog, but I think that is out of his level of capability.
The Collie is such an honest dog, even though she is a pig, if you put the Turkey on the floor and did NOT give her permission to touch it, that Turkey would remain unmolested.
Honestly purebred dogs ARE always available from reputable breeders. Rough/Smooth Collies typically only cycle ever 9-10 months, breeders are not
