Oprah’s OWN network channel has now been unleashed as of January 1, 2011!

I haven’t received the Travel Channel or SOAPnet since my cable company (BrightHouse) switched from analog to digital, and I never got a digital converter box so that I could receive those channels. I’m not getting the new OWN now either and I was really looking forward to watching the premiere tonight! I’m assuming I’m not receiving it because it is a digital only channel and I don’t have converter? Does anyone know if this is the case?
Personally it makes me angry because i love Discovery Health and I wonder what is going to happen to all the shows I love on there like "Birth Day" and "I didn’t know I was pregnant".
Yes im mad as hell too.
I grew up watching Discovery Health. Im now 18 & it has help lead me to pursue a health related career (probably nursing).
I love all the shows but Mystery Diagnoses & Untold Stories of the ER are my most favorite. =(

i think people who watch the show Personal are just mad Oprah i like her but why did she get this channel all you would be watching from her anyways is her reruns and i don’t think that would be fun, I herd that they are steal going to play though shows but idk i have been noticing that TLC have been playing shows like i did not know i was pregnant and some of the rest of the Discovery health channel but who knows they might be the new carrier

Actually Oprah had some pretty good informative shows on her talk show and she is a very good business women so I think she will probably do well. I think she gets a lot of email from her fans and she listens to them so she will know what people want to see. At least give the women a chance before you start dissin her, she may surprise you.

I think OWN just seems flat out narcissistic, but it is probably a good idea to move away from all those damn baby shows. Don’t worry, I’m sure OWN will syndicate them but they won’t be on 24/7.

BIG BUMMER! Discovery health had good programming. Seems like OWN will be more like Entertainment Health. Not impressed with Oprah’s experts…too much focus on food and weight doom and gloom rather than health at every size.

What’s the HD channel number for the Oprah Winfrey Network on Comcast? I know the regular number is 74…I thought it came in HD, so I thought I’d ask.
