This question relates mostly to people in california, so if you know about it i was wondering what your opinion on what happened and the punishment that was given to the police officer?
I personally think that it could have been an accident or intentional, and that we will never know, and that the officer was wrong of course. Oscar Grant should not have died.
But i also believe that he put himself in a bad spot, hes out in the early morning on New Years and making a big scene with the people he was with, not smart.
I was wondering what other people’s opinions were though? thanks.
Oscar Grant was assassinated by the cop, it should be treated as a murder. No way it was accidental, and you kill someone your considered a criminal. You don’t accidentally shoot an unarmed subdued man who’s on his stomach with a knee in his back. You thought he was armed? Heard that one before… you thought you were reaching for your taser? Well that’s a stretch but let’s run with it! Oh goodness the man has cell phone pictures of you having your taser out so no confusion could be had? NOT

Oscar Grant was not "making a big scene with the people he was with …" The people on the train who called the attendant testified in court that "Blacks, Whites and Latinos" were involved in a fight, but when they called the train attendant, they only mentioned the Blacks. Hmm … I wonder why? Oscar Grant did ABSOLUTELY nothing to warrant what happened to him: he was not fighting, he was not causing trouble and he was not resisting arrest.
