F.U.C.K all Liberals | Apr 05, 2011
No, because I am not ready to be raptured just yet
Astro Smurf | Apr 05, 2011
They can turn it back on….
Maadist | Apr 05, 2011
I’m ok with this
big chief | Apr 05, 2011
The mail won’t run… but other than that… are you really going to miss it?
pip | Apr 05, 2011
Yes, it’s predominately needless waste.
Sean | Apr 05, 2011
In the short term, no, but only because I’m expecting a package in the mail. But thinking long term, i think it wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing. Because I think if we don’t get the budget problems solved yesterday there will be a defacto government shut down due to a dollar collapse, and that will be much worse than this type of shut down.
Hob | Apr 05, 2011
In some ways I do, in some I don’t.
For instance, a shutdown will show many millions of Americans that the world goes on if Uncle Sam isn’t doling out the checks and regulating everything.
But then I also know that the Democrat Media machine will react just like they did the last time. They will constantly show those few folks that are suffering and blame the GOP for the shut down.
Uncle Pennybags | Apr 05, 2011
No. We need government more than you can ever imagine
Average College Student | Apr 05, 2011
No. I want everyone to give something up.
shindypetite | Apr 05, 2011
Yes…..then maybe people will see just how much we don’t need them.
Jeff | Apr 05, 2011
Yes.
Mark W | Apr 05, 2011
No. I’d like to think both sides could get something worked out without having to resort to that. But if the government is shut down, conservatives will get the blame. To paraphrase Dick Armey: Americans think liberals love government and conservatives hate it. A government shutdown will always be blamed on conservatives. It doesn’t make sense to most people that liberals would fight to shutdown the government and conservatives would fight to keep it running.
GB1990 | Apr 05, 2011
Yes because it will be the end of the GOP
Gee Wally | Apr 05, 2011
No, but I want fiscal responsibility and accountability in alignment with our US Constitution.
Time for real change in 2012!
ChiGirl | Apr 05, 2011
Yes. If these doughnut holes inside the Beltway can’t buckle it together as to how to spend less, TODAY, then shut the son of a b#tch down until they can grow up and figure it out.
El Tecolote | Apr 05, 2011
No, we have been there and done that with disastrous results, how quickly we forget our own history, even when it is modern history.
What I want is the parties to stop worrying about the next election long enough to actually get things done. This perpetual election worry is crap.
Alex | Apr 05, 2011
If I didn’t do my job and it caused my business to shut down…It would be my fault… Liberals getting a free pass once again…harry reid is a tool.
Raymond C | Apr 05, 2011
Just the non essential services will shut down. This is good news as it will show just what those non essential services are and they can be shut down permanently. YAY!
Schmuck | Apr 05, 2011
WHY NOT, in this case "idle hands" are least likely to "cause mischief"! All "essential services" will be unaffected; granny will still receive her pension and the military will still get paid. Chicken Little’s prediction will be no more true than in 1995 or even Y2K in 2000 when… nothing happened. When they say a "shutdown", it means Congress has no money available on the table to throw around!
robzuc97 | Apr 05, 2011
warning people. start your victory garden soon because the way the republicans are acting we will be hurting badly and will need to eat, and get some chickens if you are allowed to have them.
mountain man | Apr 05, 2011
I hope it does then maybe these republicans will stop making bogus budget cuts. Why are the republicans so swift on wanting to cut programs for the poor and middle class but yet if someone brings up programs for making big oil companies pay taxes on the oil they have a fit. they claim they want to fix the debt for our children and grandchildren. So by cutting medicare and medicaid and the pell grants thats gonna help our children out right. I am a low income student my mom has worked all her life
kroshanaie14 | Apr 05, 2011
The phrase "government shutdown" sounded fun when I first heard it, but apparently the "essential services" that would remain active include the TSA (known to some as the Testicle Stroking Administration). D’oh!
To me, the risk of a few days’ disruption is worthwhile if it can be used to promote bigger budget cuts. I’d think the Republicans will be more pragmatic and compromise, however.
BrownBagDinner | Apr 05, 2011
No I don’t we are military we have car payments groceries everything. If the government shuts down for us our grocery stores shut down, our life is changed drastically. The military is being given letters to explain to bill collectors that we may not get paid and if we don’t get paid it is ok and to not foreclose our houses, or take our cars.
Having the government shut down affects millions of peoples paychecks and honestly people can say they do not need the government but you know someone
